Handlebar Grips
Bicycle handlebar grips are usually made of firm or soft plastic, foam, gel, or even leather. They may be smooth and round or molded to fit the shape of a human hand. Foam grips can be applied by submerging them under water and then inflate them with 30 psi air while massaging them onto the handlebar. Plastic grips can be heated in water and punched onto the handlebar. Kraton is the trade name given to a number of high performance elastomers. Kraton is used as a synthetic replacement for rubber. Kraton offers many of the properties of natural rubber, such as flexibility, high traction, and sealing abilities, but with increased resistance to heat, weathering, and chemicals making it ideal for bicycle handlebar grips.
